RIMS students stick to demand for director's ouster

Imphal, May 08 2025: Students of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) continued their protest on Thursday, demanding removal of the director, dean and sub-deans of the Institute.

The protesting MBBS, BDS, MRI, MLT, BASLP and BSc Nursing students had launched the protest on Wednesday, over the director's alleged derogatory remarks and mental harassment of students by the dean and sub-deans.

During Thursday's protests, the students held placards inscribed with the slogans, "We condemn sexual harassment on girls", and "We demand removal of director, dean and sub dean", and "Why does the director want us to be naked?" .

Later in the afternoon, the students marched up to the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor.

However, they were able to only meet the Governor's secretary.

The students urged the secretary to help arrange a meeting with the Governor by Friday to submit a memorandum in person.
