Man held with vehicle stolen in 2022

Imphal, January 08 2025: A team led by Traffic Control Wing ASI Th Tomba apprehended a man on Tuesday and recovered a stolen two-wheeler 'Jupiter', which had its colour, registration number, and RC book altered, during a routine drive in front of the Nupi Lal complex.

The arrested person has been identified as Md Eliyas Khan (23), son of Makakmayum Hellauddin of Lilong Chingjao.

According to police, under the aegis of Traffic Police Control Wing SP Arambam Pramesha, a team led by ASI Tomba conducted a special drive at 8 am on Tuesday.

The team intercepted and checked a silver scooter - Jupiter - driven by Md Eliyash, bearing registration number MN01B 4572 .

He produced a photocopy of the RC book in the name of Md Heallaudin, son of Md Rahajuddin of Lilong Nungei Ching.

However, due to suspicion, the team examined the chassis and engine numbers, uncovering several discrepancies.

The vehicle was found to be registered under a different name, number, and colour.

The colour had been altered from black to silver, and the vehicle number from MN01AH 6011 to MN01B 4572 .

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from near MBC Church, Chingmeirong in 2022.Md Eliyas Khan and recovered vehicle were handed over to Imphal police station for further necessary action.
