Taphou Phyamai celebrates Laonii festival

Taphou Phyamai celebrated Laonii festival, which started on Wednesday.
The festival will continue till July 9 .
Tadubi MLA N Kayisii attended the second day of the festival on Thursday as the chief guest, while village headman and ex-MLA Dr V Alexander Pao was the chief host.
The Laonii festival signifies the completion of transplantation and is celebrated to relax and enjoy after a long and tiresome work in the fields.
Speaking on the occasion, chief host Dr V Alexander pointed out that festivals are celebrated not only to eat, drink and make merry but to build love and understanding among all while N Kayisii said that culture is the identity of a tribe/individual and celebrating such a significant festival will definitely show one's culture to the world and preserve one's identity.
Traditional dances, folk songs and other cultural items were presented during the celebration, which was also attended by many invitees from neighbouring villages.
