Imphal, April 07 2015 : At least three persons, including two women, were killed and more than 20 people sustained injuries in a tragic motor mishap today at Shajouba in Senapati district, reports Hornbill Express.

The occupants of the ill fated Tata Mobile vehicle were returning to Chakumai village after attending a funeral service at Makhel village.

Many of the injured victims are said to be in critical conditions.

According to sources, the Tata Mobile vehicle was attempting to climb a steep road at Shajouba village when it suddenly stopped and overturned due to technical failure of the engine.

The accident took place around 11.30 am.

Two of the dead women have been identified as Daikho Lidziisa (50) and Sani Lolia (40).They died on the spot while the third victim, who is yet to be identified, died at Mao PHC.

The injured were immediately rushed to Rural Okai Hospital, Mao Gate from where they were referred to different hospitals according to the degree of injury.

Three critically injured victims were referred to Naga Hospital, Kohima and 15 others were referred to RIMS and JNIMS hospitals Imphal.
