Imphal, December 05 2024:
Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi conducted a comprehensive review of the availability of health facilities and infrastructure-related issues in valley districts today.
According to a statement issued by the Health Department, the meeting was held at 11:30 am and attended by Special Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), Director of Health Services, State Mission Director, Deputy Commissioners, Chief Medical Officers and State-level Nodal Officers.
During the meeting, DCs and CMOs from the valley districts presented reports highlighting challenges such as shortages in human resources, infrastructure deficiencies, and specific district-level issues, including ambulance availability.
After reviewing the reports, the Chief Secretary issued the five key directives.
Tackling human resource rationalization, he tasked the Special Secretary (Health & FW) and Director of Health Services with devising a model to optimize the deployment of available human resources, including specialists, medical officers, nurses, and technicians, to address critical gaps effectively.
Next, the Deputy Commissioners were directed to take a proactive role in reviewing the performance of health facilities in their districts in close coordination with the Chief Medical Officers to overcome district-level oversight.
Thirdly, the State-level officers were instructed to assess and review ongoing projects and prepare a comprehensive plan for securing funds to construct buildings for Primary Health Sub-Centres (PHSCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs) lacking infrastructure.
During the meeting, special mention was made on the high prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), Hypertension and Cancer in the State.
In order to tackle these non-communicable diseases, the Chief Secretary tasked the State NCD team to recommend preventive as well as curative measures to be implemented in the State.
Lastly, the State Level Officers and Store Officers were advised to have a flexible allocation of drugs as per the requirements of the districts and ensure proper use of DVDMS portal for allocation and distribution of drugs to ensure steady supply of drugs from the State warehouse.
Notably, the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government to improve healthcare services and address the unique challenges faced by the valley districts, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all.
