CPI meet condemns Athuan Abonmai's murder

The three day national council meeting of the Communist Party of India (CPI) held at New Delhi from October 2 has strongly condemned the abduction and assassination of Zeliangrong leader Athuan Abonmai.
CPI national executive member Dr Moi- rangthem Nara and CPI state council secretary L Sotinkumar attended the meet representing the state.
A resolution was adopted condemning the assassination of Abonmai on the last day of the meet on Monday.
Interacting with media in this regard, Sotinkumar said that the issue of Athuan Abonmai was brought up in the meeting, which discussed the incident and its cause.
It also discussed the extortion activities 'being carried otft by UG groups along NH 37 and NH 102, and how the people of the state are enduring the hardships for years.
They also brought up the demand of CPI Manipur state to the central government for deploying highway protection force in order to provide safe passage to the public and transporters along the two lifelines.
Later, after the meeting, he met CPI national general secretary D Raja during which the latter assured of bringing up the demand for removal of NSCN-IM camps from the soil of Manipur in the parliament, Sotinkumar added.
