Imphal, August 04 2015:
Manipur Peace & Integrity (MAPI) Council, Imphal has stated on Tuesday the council is concerned over the final peace accord signed between Government of India and NSCN (IM) in New Delhi on Monday.
A statement released by MAPI Council secretary M Netaji said that the decision of Naga talks interlocutor RN Ravi and the Government of India to strike the accord with the Naga outfit by ignoring the political opinion of the people of Manipur is highly suspicious.
It expressed strong displeasure over the alleged failure of the Manipur Government to take pre-emptive measures before the signing took place.
Both the Central and State Government should be held responsibile for any eventuality if the contents of the agreement are meant for creation of a Greater Nagaland or a Supra State and Alternative Arrangement that will threaten the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The council demanded that a delegation including all legislators of the State headed by the Manipur Chief Minister should visit New Delhi soon to find out the facts of the accord.
It also said the State BJP leaders should not be mere onlookers on the crucial issue.
It said the Government delegation must not return to Manipur until the contents of the peace accord are confirmed.
Mapi Council also vowed to extend maximum support to any decision taken by United Committee Manipur (UCM) in this regard.
Meitei Youth Front, South East Asia in a separate statement stated that any peace deal between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) will not be allowed to mingle with the territorial integrity of the State.
MYF threatened to close down the State BJP office if the party fails to bring out the 'secret peace accord' to the public domain within two days and that all party members of the State should resign en-masse publicly.
Any person or organization acting against the Meitei community will be banished for life from the land, it threatened.
