MU observes National Unity Day

National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, Fit India Campaign Committee (FICC), and Fit India Club (FIC) of Manipur University jointly organised National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) observance under the theme "Unity and Integrity" at the Court Hall of the University, Canchipur, on Friday.
The observance was held as part of the Fit India Movement commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and propagate spirit of unity and patriotism.
It began with floral tribute to Sardar Patel, followed by an oath-taking ceremony led by the chief guest, MU vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra.
FICC, FIC chairman, and MU dean of Students' Welfare Prof M Premjit presided over the function while NSS state nodal officer and Youth Affairs & Sports director T Phulen and NSS Cell programme coordinator Dr Laishram Santosh were the guests of honour.
In his speech, Prof Lokendra emphasised the historical importance of National Unity Day, highlighting Sardar Patel's role in uniting over 560 princely states to form a unified India.
He urged attendees to uphold Patel's vision of a cohesive and diverse nation, especially in the context of the present day.
T Phulen spoke about the importance of'a positive mindset for personal and societal growth, stating thatpos-itive thinking is essential for managing stress and health.
He encouraged youth to actively engage in community initiatives for building resilience and social well-being.
A painting competition was also organised at Dr Kamal Indoor Hall, where around 88 students of class 6 to 12 from across the state participated.
Brikrama Lourembam (Class VIII, Comprehensive School, Oinam) won the competition followed by Haobijam Anamika Chanu (Class IX, Ningthoukhong Hr Sec School) in 2nd place, and Khundrakpam Chinglemba (Class VI, SL Arena of Learning) in 3rd place.
In his presidential speech, Prof M Premjit called for fostering unity to overcome challenges in contemporary society, encouraged all to draw inspiration from Patel's legacy to promote collaboration and progress of Manipur.
