Myanmar junta issues no-mask order

In sharp contrast to the growing habit of not wearing face mask among people in Moreh, shoot at sight order against people who wear face mask has been issued in neighbouring Tamu town in Myanmar.
This is in addition to the existing shoot at sight order against pillion rider in the country and Myanmar Army on Monday announced implementation of the same order in Tamu town.
With the two shoot at sight orders applicable in Myanmar right now, Indian citizens going to Tamu town need to take utmost precaution and not wear face mask and ride alone on two-wheelers or else face dire consequences in the neighbouring country.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccination drive is going on in areas covered by Moreh Block Primary health Centre (PHC), Moreh and there was no exception on Tuesday.
As witnessed on Tuesday by this correspondent, around 80 percent of people in Moreh do not wear face mask when they came out of their homes and even vegetable vendors are not wearing face mask thereby risking not only their own lives but also of the customers.
In the backdrop of non-compliance with the safety norms, Chief Medical officer (CMO) Tengnoupal Kh Gojen Singh has appealed to people of the district particularly living in the border town of Moreh to take utmost precaution so as to stay safe from COVID-19 .
Though Moreh block has no positive case as of now, many people in Tengnoupal district are suffering from the contagious disease, he said, adding that people need to take precaution as Moreh is being frequented by traders from different parts of the state including from Imphal and Myanmar.
