MLA proposes Govt aid to landslide victim family

Opposition MLA Surjakumar Okram has urged the government to provide necessary aid to family of the Tamenglong landslide victims.
During zero hour of the 6 th session of the 12th Manipur Assembly on Wednesday, MLA Surjakumar highlighted calamitous devastation caused by natural calamities on people worldwide.
He expressed deep shock and sorrow over report published on Wednesday about a mother and her son killed in a landslide in Tamenglong district.
Duanjangliu Kamei (28) and her 2-year-old son Jaoziangai Kamei, lost their lives in the disaster.
Additionally, in the Wayanad landslide in Kerala, around 150 bodies have been recovered, with the number expected to rise.
Those tragedies underscore the detrimental effects of human actions on the environment, he maintained.
While describing as reassuring that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be offering cash incentives to the families of those affected by the Wayanad incident, he suggested that the government of Manipur provide similar support to victims of the Tamenglong landslide.
