Bengal Monitor lizards rescued

Imphal, July 31 2014:
A Bengal Monitor lizard, which was found at a paddy field at Lamshang Lairenkabi in Imphal West district, was released at Langol reserved forest area on Wednesday, a PFA release stated.
The displaced animal was handed over to PFA by one Leitanthem Ingobi who had located the animal while working at his field, the release informed, saying Ingobi had fed the animal with eggs and meat.

Accordingly, PFA informed the concerned Wildlife officials and released the animal at the Langol reserved forest yesterday in presence of staffs of BO Iroisemba.
In another effort, PFA received another Bengal Monitor lizard from Chanam Ranjana, Member Chanam Sandrok Gram Panchayat, Ward no.1 who earlier got it from one Takhelambam Raghumani of Thiyam Konjin.
The lizard got injuries probably caused by some long pointed objects.
The injured lizard is under treatment at PFA shelter.
