Two from state win Sahitya Akademi award

Two state writers, namely Lenin Khumancha and Ningombam Jadumani have been selected for Sahitya Akademi Award for 2021.Lenin Khumancha has been selected for Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his poetry book 'Matamgi Manglan (2017)' while Ningombam Jadumani has named for Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar for his book Apunbana Pangalni (2016)' .
Lenin was born to Laishram Bihari and Ngangbi of Khangabok Makha Leikai in Thoubal district in 1988.He is pursuing PhD in Manipuri in Manipur University.
He has so far published three books and won Arambam ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award 2017 given by Patriotic Writers' Forum, and Tekcham Kamini Kusha Loidang Ningshing Khorirol Mana 2019 presented by Khorirol Sandoklup, Wangjing.
Ningombam Jadumani is a theatre artiste, director, actor, musician, playwright and designer.
His father Ningombam Mani is a renowned exponent of arts and music.
Jadumani got associated with Ratan Thiyam's Chorus Repertory since 1976 and was also part of Rangamandal Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal under BV Karanth.
He has written eight children's plays based on folk tales, translated seven plays and directed over 18 children's plays.
He has also imparted theatre training in and outside India as visiting faculty member of Sangeet Natak Akademi, National School of Drama, and NCERT.
He completed fellowship in Aharya in Manipuri Tradition under Art in Moral Education.
He had won several awards including Manipur State Kala Akademi Award 2008 and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad's Angang Nawa Sahitya Mana 2019 .
He is currently serving as director of Blooming Cultural Academy of Performing Arts.
Each of award carries Rs 50,000 in cash and citation.
Winners of Sahitya Akademi awards will be declared on a later date.
