Thoubal, October 30 2024:
Following lapse of the 48-hour deadline set for clarification regarding the bomb threat at the Khangabok Awang Leikai residence of Sur Hospital proprietor Dr Laishram Somen by on October 26, a public meeting held at Khangabok Mamang Keithel on Wednesday reaffirmed the decision to boycott armed groups in Khangabok area.
The public meeting organised by Apunba Meira Paibi Lup Khangabok and Apunba Club Khangabok and attended by representatives of various meira paibi groups adopted a number of resolutions.
Reading out the resolutions, Bangsibudon Youth Club advisor Kh Jibon reasoned that as no organisation claimed responsibility for the October 26 incident, it was assumed that the act was not carried out by any revolutionary group, but by individuals pursuing personal interests.
He further urged all individuals standing for justice to support efforts in uncovering the truth behind the bomb threat and called upon clubs, organisations, and meira paibi groups to assist in investigating the incident and reinforcing the earlier decision to bar all armed groups from entering Khangabok-until the perpetrators are identified.
The advisor also cautioned that if any village in Khangabok is found harbouring the culprits involved in the incident, he/she would be considered complicit in the bomb threat.
It is worth mentioning that about 8/9 armed persons came to the doctor's house around 9 pm in a Maruti Gypsy vehicle on October 26, demanding the whereabouts of Dr Somen.
They threatened the family members at gunpoint and placed a hand grenade inside the house before leaving with four mobile phones of the family members.
