Anti-hijacking mock drill held at IIA

Imphal, November 29 2024:
The Aerodrome Committee, under the chairmanship of home commissioner N Ashok Kumar, conducted an anti-hi-jacking mock exercise at Imphal International Airport on Friday.
A release issued by Imphal International Airport informed that the primary objective of the exercise was to evaluate the implementation of the anti-hijacking contingency plan and to assess the preparedness, readiness, and response of all stakeholders involved in aviation operations at Imphal.
The exercise witnessed active participation from multiple agencies, including the state police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), Indian army, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Intelligence Bureau (IB), CID, airline operators, Airports Authority of India (AAI), and several other departments and agencies critical to handling hijacking situations, as outlined in the contingency plan.
According to airport director Chipemmi Keishing, the exercise provided an opportunity to strengthen inter-agency coordination, enhance situational awareness, and ensure swift, effective responses to such critical scenarios.
The Aerodrome Committee expressed satisfaction with the overall performance and highlighted the importance of regular mock drills to maintain a high level of operational readiness at all times, the release added.
