Imphal, August 28 2022:
Condemning authority of New Model English School, Thoubal Moijing for allegedly misleading it in a conflict between the school authority and family of a student, Manipur Youth and Students' Union (MYSU) has demanded the school authority to publicly clarify on the matter within 24 hours.
Speaking to media persons at its Khalabung, Imphal East office on Sunday, MYSU president Neal Sharma conceded that the union seriously took the statement of an assistant secretary of the school Md Babu through the media alleging that the students' union had been partial during the confrontation that occurred between the school authority and family of a student.
A female student of the school complained to the union stating that school authority physically abused her when she demanded transfer certificate from the school.
Acting on the complaint, the union visited the school to talk with the school authority, however, the school was found closed on that day but talked to vice president cum warden of the school Kuyum Achou, he recalled.
While pointing out that the conversation with the vice president and the statement of Babu Khan in media is contradictory, Neal said that physical abuse of the student by the school authority is undeniable.
It is seen that the student along with her two younger brothers were injured, he continued, while clarifying that the students' union never stand only on one side.
Neal reiterated that the school authorities should publicly clarify within 24 hours.
