A KCP cadre wanted by the NIA in connection with the Paraolon Chandel ambush incident, has been remanded to judicial custody after he was produced before the Special Judge NIA Manipur today afternoon.
The wanted KCP cadre, identified as Moirangthem Nimaichand Meitei alias Rakesh alias Laloi (22) s/o M Ranjit of Ninthoukhong Kha Leikai Ward No 6, was produced with a prayer for 6 days custody remand under NIA Kolkata.
The Court heard Special PP NIA, the IO, the accused and also went through the application for the judicial custody remand.
Satisfied with the application, the Court remanded M Nimaichand to judicial custody for 15 days, till March 12.The Court also allowed the application filed by Kanchan Mitra, Dy SP, NIA Kolkata camp Imphal (CIO of the case) praying for passing an order to record the statement of the accused.
M Nimaichand was formally arrested by NIA Kolkata in connection with the Paraolon ambush case when he was produced before the Court in connection with an FIR taken up against him by Bishnupur PS under UA (P) Act.
M Nimaichand was arrested by a team of Bishnupur district police on February 3, from Potshangbam bazar, before the formal arrest by the NIA.
NIA had earlier declared Moirangthem Nimaichand a wanted man with a Rs 2 lakh reward, for his alleged involvement in the Paraolon ambush of June 4, 2015 .
It may be mentioned that N Premkanta (32) s/o N Ibomcha of Kakching Irung Pham, a wanted KYKL cadre of the NIA in the same case, is presently lodged in judicial custody at Sajiwa Central Jail after he was arrested by a team of State police and NIA on January 12, at around 3 pm, from Wangkhei Andro parking area along with the recovery of a pistol and five live bullet rounds.
