Apunba Club Heirok, Apunba Meira Paibi Heirok and Ningol Club Heirok on Saturday took out a rally under the banner 'Mass Rally Against War Situation in Manipur by Irresponsible Government' from Heirok Part II Maning Leikai to Heirok Part II Litan City Ground, where a public meeting was held.
The rallyists demanded the government to take a definite decision regarding the 10 Kuki MLAs and Kuki Narco Terrorists in order to end the 10 months long conflict and bring peace and normalcy to the state during the assembly session which is slated to begin from February 28.During the rally, the participants were seen displaying placards which read 'Go back Assam Rifle', 'Abrogate SoO agreement with Kuki militants', 'Find the missing Meitei civilians', 'No poppy plantation in Manipur', 'ITLF and COTU should be declared as terrorists', 'Implement NRC in Manipur immediately' etc.
Addressing the public meeting held after the rally, Apunba Club Heirok convenor Thounaojam Roshan said that the rally was organised to exert pressure on the government for discussing the ongoing conflict in the upcoming state assembly so as to take definitive decision to end the conflict.
He alleged the government of being apathetic towards the problems being faced by the people while the 10 Kuki MLAs along with the Kuki Narco Terrorists are taking advantage of the government's silence and inaction.
After the meeting, a memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister and the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly through Thoubal DC .
