Jiribam MLA refutes allegation against him

Jiribam, January 24 2018:
MLA of Jiribam AC, Md Ashab Uddin has clarified the allegation made against him regarding the opposition towards the mass verification drive conducted at Jiribam villages is false and baseless.
Speaking as the chief guest during an awareness programme held at Champanagar community hall, the MLA said that he did not oppose or forbid any verification drive conducted by the district police till date.
In connection with the allegations made against him, he clarified that he had only given suggestion to give prior notification or announcement before conducting such verification drive and added that the people residing in Jiribam are all natives who deserve proper notification.
He urged the police personnel to follow a norm while conducting verification drives as many natives of the district are staying outside for business, studies and jobs while some are deceased.
The MLA rebuffed the statement published in local daily stating that numerous immigrants have entered the district and claimed that no immigrants have even entered the district.
He further urged the authorities concerned to carry out the verification drive by following the necessary protocol and at the same time to refrain from hindering the human rights of the denizens of Jiribam.
The awareness programme on biometrics registration for handloom weavers was organised by District Handlooms and Textiles, Jiribam under the sponsorship of District Handlooms and Textiles, Govt of India.
MLA Md Ashab Uddin, DHT Jiribam , (H/L) project manager P Meenakumari, Up-Adhyaksha, Jiribam, Zilla Parishad Th Somorjit Singh and Pradhan Dibong Gram Panchayat RK Nobinsana Singh attended the programme as dignitaries among others.
