Don't sell your voting rights: Imphal East DPO

Maintaining that all should be very careful during elections, Imphal East ICDS DPO B Sonamani Sharma has appealed all concerned not to sell their voting rights but to elect the right person for good governance.
Sonamani was speaking as chief guest during one day 'integrated communication and outreach programme' organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), regional office Imphal on Wednesday.
The programme was organised to make the people aware on voter literacy and other developmental programmes taken up by the government.
Sonamani further stated that selling one's voting rights for money has been a trend in the state for long.
This trend has not only led to the inability to form a good government but has also chaos in the society.
People should not sell their votes but exercise their franchise rights to bring good governance and lead the society towards betterment.
CBC regional office Imphal publicity secretary Dr Nongmaithem Rina said that the programme has been conducted to make the people aware on schemes of the central government for the welfare of the people and also to create awareness on voter literacy.
The function is part of the series of programmes taken up by CBC regional office Imphal to make the public aware on the democratic exercise through different mediums including song and drama, paintings and quiz competitions.
A quiz competition was also organised as part of the function followed by distribution of prizes to the top three winners.
