The initiative offers journalists from print, electronic, and digital media a unique platform to capture and share the cultural and spiritual essence of the Maha Kumbh Mela with audi ences across the Northeast region and beyond.
Other participating media outlets include Arunachal Front, Asomiya Pratidin, Dainik Asom, DY365, Time8, U Peitngor, The Morung Express, Hornbill TV, Summit Times, Swatantra Aawaj, Headlines Tripura, and Satyabhashan.
Scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, the Maha Kumbh traces its origins to the Samudra Manthan, or the churning of the ocean in mythology, during which drops of nectar are believed to have fallen at Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.
The sacred bath during the festival is considered a symbol of soul purification and spiritual enlightenment.
This year, Maha Kumbh is expected to attract over 45 crore devotees, including approximately 15 lakh international visitors - a significant increase from the 25 crore attendees recorded during the 2019 Kumbh Mela.
PIB's media tours, organised for journalists from various regions of the country, aim to showcase how the Maha Kumbh promotes unity across caste, religion, and culture.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the festival also serves as a global platform to highlight India's rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and growing economic prosperity.
