SFs recover arms, explosives in joint operation

Imphal, December 19 2024:
Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered cache of weapons and war-like stores from general area of Nepali Khutti, Laimaton Thangbuh village, approximately 13.5 kilometres south of Kotlen COB on Thursday.
The recovered items included a modified .303 sniper rifle, one .22 rifle, two single-barrel rifles, one 9mm pistol, and various ammunition, including five 12-bore cartridges and a live .303 round.
Explosives and riot-control materials were also recovered, including an IED, a detonator, 10 metres of safety fuse, 100 grams of commercial explosives, a battery pack, and stun, tear smoke, and chilli grenades.
The haul also included 53 anti-riot rubber bullets, specialised shells, and a dummy shell.
The recovered items were handed over to the police for further investigation.
On the other hand, security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from Nungbram village and Lairok Vaiphei village, Imphal East district on Thursday.
The recovered items include a 7.62mm Russian RPD Machine Gun, a 5.56mm INSAS Rifle with two magazines, a 0.32 Pistol with a magazine, a 2-inch Mortar, and a 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun.
In addition, explosives weighing approximately 2.5 kilograms, two No 36 hand grenades, and two WP hand grenades were also recovered.
The operation also led to the recovery of 60 rounds of 7.62mm, 40 rounds of 5.56mm, three rounds of .32mm ammunition, two 12 bore cartridges, two Pompi guns with a shell, two wireless radio sets, two tube launchers, a 60mm improvised mortar shell, two 82mm heavy shells, and a 60mm high-calibre improvised mortar launcher.
