Governor espouses EPMKN campaign, plants sapling

In a gesture towards promoting the ambitious nationwide campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' for a green India, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Tuesday planted sapling of State Tree 'Uningthou' (Phoebe hainesiana) at the premises of Raj Bhavan, here.
In a release, the Governor's Secretariat informed that ICAR-Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries -Research director Dr Pramod Kumar Pandey along with two others called on the Governor and apprised him about steps taken by the institute to develop the fisheries sector in the state.
The director also invited the Governor to attend the inaugural ceremony of fisheries infrastructure in Manipur University slated to be held in January, 2025 .
The Governor lauded the efforts of the institute, in augmenting the pace of fisheries as an allied sector in the state and encouraged them to continue their efforts for greater yields.
On the other hand, Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides state secretary Th Heramani Singh along with seven others called on the Governor and invited him for the Upcoming Rajya Puraskar Award, also known as the Governor s Award scheduled to be held in the early part next year, the release conveyed.
