Protest against arrest of VVs continues

Imphal, February 16 2025: Phaknung Social Youths' Club (PSYC), and Phaknung Apunba Meira Paibi jointly organised a sit-in protest against the arrest of village volunteers, at Phaknung on Sunday.

In a press release issued by PSYC secretary general L Priyojit Singh, Phaknung Apunba Meira Paibi Kangujam Salini Devi warned that further attempt to arrest village volunteers might trigger a third Nupi Lal.

During the sit-in, the protestors shouted slogans like "Stop arresting Ws", "Release arrested VVs at the earliest", "Form a government wanted by the people", and "Revoke PR from the state" .

Moirang Hanuba Youth Development Club (MYDC) along with Moirang Hanuba Nupi Chaokhat Khongthang Lup also organised sit-in protest to denounce arrest of village volunteers.

According to a joint release issued Sunday, the participants also raised slogans against the re-imposition of AFSPA 1958 in the state.

Meanwhile, Federation of Indigenous Peoples' Democratic Movement along with Meira Paibi.members from in and around Langol Game Village staged a sit-in protest at Langol Game Village on Sunday.

During the sit-in, the protestors shouted slogans for upholding the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur, not filing FIRs against village volunteers, unconditional release of arrested village volunteers and standing against the drug menace and those trying to destroy the state, informed a release issued by the Federation.
