Imphal, January 15 2022:
A felicitation programme in honour of Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan was organised at Neikanlong on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Joykisan commented on the recent statements made by an intending candidate, stating that one cannot work for the'people just by sitting inside one's home.
One should speak only after assessing the situation outside instead of slandering others through the media, for it will only lead to a sad defeat, he remarked.
Regarding the intending candidate's jab on the real number of community halls constructed in Thangmeiband AC, Joykisan said that the person must have made the statement due to poor knowledge.
Many of the existing community halls need proper flooring, tiles and extension, he explained; while listing the completed community halls in Namthalong, Guigailung, Tharon, LDYDO, Ibudhou Moirangpokpa, Ibudhou Wangamba community hall, Ibudhou Tokpa Pung, Ima Panthoibi, Leone memorial, Khoyathong, NISA (club) building, NLC building, Thangmeiband United Club building, Sinam Leikai Meira Shang, Tarung Women Society Office, Ima Khunthokhanbi Meira Shang, and Lourung Purel Leikai Meira Shang, along with Model Club building which is nearing completion.
Regarding the NISA building, the MLA clarified that after the Club building was constructed, the then secretary RK Ningthemcha proposed for opening an ATM booth in the building.
But it was decided to keep it as sports building, in addition to passing a resolution for designating the rooms in the building for office staff and management.
However, he (Joykisan) had no idea about the shop being opened in the centre.
When he enquired of the same, he got the response that it was done so because of financial constraints.
Recounting that NISA won the CC Meet during his time as its president, Joykisan also said that the football club won many state leagues including a hat trick, something which other clubs find hard to achieve.
As such, he urged all concerned to focus their attention on sports.
The MLA said: "Others can talk about his role and contributions in the development of the state including resolving key issues.
However, negative politics will not bring anything good".
Questioning how he had stolen rice as an MLA, Joykisan remarked that the same intending candidate was one of the many people who queued up to get their share of rice.
If such allegation is true, then the individual concerned should have no issue registering an FIR and ensuring the arrest of the person (s) involved considering the same accuser is part of the ruling BJP government.
"There is no need for any MLA to be present during the distribution of rice as it is the job of the agents.
Thus, it would be best to make statement after prpperly ascertaining the facts and in consultation with someone who is well-informed of the laws.
Although the people of Thangmeiband know the truth, those in other constituencies may be unaware," the MLA said, while explaining the reason for his clarification.
