Minister Vungzagin calls for joint effort to keep CCpur neat

Churachandpur, August 14 2021:
The Churachandpur Autonomous District Council administration on Saturday organised a dedication programme of three sanitation trucks and GI pipes procured from Tribal Affairs Department at its administrative office here.
Tribal affairs, Transport & GAD minister Vungzagin Valte formally launched the trucks and pipes by cutting a ribbon and then dedicated the trucks to the people for use in collection of waste materials.
The event was attended by Singngat MLA GS Haupu, who is also chairman of MANIREDA and MTDC.
Also present were additional chief secretary TA & Hills Letkhogin Haokip; TA & Hills director C Arthur Worchuiyo; Churachandpur DC Pawan Yadav, SP Sivanand Surve and others.
During his speech, minister Vungzagin Valte clarified the reasons for retaining the incumbent ADC chairman Khaipao Haokip and other ADC members as caretakers even after the lapse of their tenure, stating that ADC is an institution of the tribals that needs to be maintained.
He also noted that there are reasons why Letkhogin, though qualified to be appointed as chief secretary, has been made the additional chief secretary of Tribal Affairs.
The minister lauded the Churachandpur DC and SP, ADC chairman Lalthajam, CMO and EE PHED for their joint effort that has led to lessening of the Covid-19 impact to a very great extent.
On the measures being taken up to make the town clean, Vungzagin said that Churachandpur is not lagging behind others in so many areas and it is necessary to make the district a trend setter in respect of cleanliness and sanitation.
He then appealed to the gathering to dream and put their heads together to ensure that the best is introduced with regard to solid and liquid waste management including underground level waste, adding that an incinerator and a plastic recycling machine will also be installed near the waste dumping site of the town.
Vungzagin Valte also said that what has been done in other parts of the world where all wastes are collected and converted into electricity can also be adopted here provided the district denizens have a vision for their future and for that they must cooperate with each other.
Later, the minister provided a power back up to the district hospital.
MLA Singngat GS Haupu thanked the minister for being thoughtful and his concern for the district.
Additional chief secretary, Letkhogin Haokip called the procurement of the garbage trucks as a boon for the district and said that the biggest problem of the district is cleanliness and this has been the concern of the department for a long time.
