Advocacy meeting on vaccination held

An advocacy meeting on COVID-19 vaccination that emphasised specifically on the importance of this vaccination and other myths and related facts was jointly organised by Bishnupur district administration and State Health Society, NHM Manipur at the Mini Training Hall of old CMO Office, Bishnupur on Tuesday.
NHM director Dr N Shyamjai Singh, retired additional director PH Dr L Arke Singh, RKSK & ASHA SNO Dr Jubilee Wahengbam and state nodal officer (Health) as the resource persons explained on the benefits of getting vaccinated and how the vaccination develops one's immunity and reduces the chances of contracting the virus.
Targeting community participation in the ongoing vaccination campaign which is being held across the district was the main point of discussion during the advocacy meeting organised for representatives of MLAs, ZP member, pradhans, religious leaders, CSOs and NGOs functioning in the district.
The meeting was also attended by AC to DC (II) Md Ziaur Rahman, CMO and other officials of the District Health Society.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr Jubilee informed said that getting vaccinated is the only means of protection against the pandemic as of now.
The vaccine acts as an immunity booster and helps in fighting the virus.
The first dosage of vaccine provides protection of up to 60 per cent and second 90 to 98 percent protection.
CMO Dr Gyaneshor said that the vaccination rate in the district has increased due to conduct of pre vaccination awareness programmes, while adding that the District Health Society under the aegis of the district administration is trying its level best to fully vaccinate all the eligible denizens.
