SFs rescue abducted driver, two others

Imphal, June 13 2022:
A combined team of Special Commando and 22 Assent Rifles on Monday rescued a truck driver and two others who were abducted by unknown miscreants from National Highway-02 (Imphal-Dimapur).
The rescued truck driver has been identified as Md Anwar s/o Abdul Rahman, and the other two, Tousif s/o Md Safin of Turtipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Md Kalim s/ o (L) Md Jaman of Hindupur Khera, Uttar Pradesh.
According to a police source, information was received about unknown miscreants taking into their custody a rice-laden truck (UT 38 T 5300) and abducting its occupants somewhere along the Imphal-Dimapur section of NH-2, as the vehicle was coming from Guwahati to Imphal around 5am on Monday.
Based on specific information, the combined team of Special Commando of Khabeisoi, Kangpokpi and 22 Assam Rifles carried out operations in suspicious locations.
During an operation in one such location, the stolen truck was spotted.
On seeing the security forces, the miscreants dumped the truck driver and the two other occupants along with the truck around 9.30 am, before fleeing the scene.
The three people and the truck were rescued safely and later handed over to their owner named Bijoy Kumar of Alu Gali, Thangal Bazar.
Kangpokpi PS has registered an FIR in this regard and further investigation is underway.
