SFs recover arms, ammos in search operations

Imphal, November 12 2024: In a series of successful joint operations, Indian Army and Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur police and other security forces, recovered 29 weapons, improvised explosive device (IED), ammunition and warlike stores (WLS) from both hill and valley regions in the districts of Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal and Kakching.

According to a release issued by PRO IGAR (S), acting on specific intelligence about presence of arms and ammunition in general area Samukom village in Tengnoupal district, a combined team launched coordinated search operation on November 4 and recovered two large pompi guns, grenades, IEDs, explosive material, ammunition and other war-like stores.

Similarly, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an intelligence-based operation in Bishnupur district in general area Uyok on the same day during which one 7.62mm SLR rifle, one .303 rifle, two single bore barrel (SBBL) guns, one 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and other warlike stores were recovered.

The combined team also coordinated for launch of an operation in the Thingom area of Yangoi Lambi in Imphal West district on November 8 and recovered one each 9mm carbine machine gun, grenade launcher and 9mm pistol, grenades, ammunition and other war-like stores.

In the areas under L Khonomphai village jungles of Sangaikot in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an operation on November 9 and recovered one .303 Rifle, two 9 mm pistols, six 12 bore single barrel rifles, one .22 rifle, ammunition and other war-like stores.

On the same day, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched an operation in general area between S Choungoubung and Mao-hing of Kangpokpi district and recovered one 5.56mm.INSAS Rifle, one point 303 rifle, two SBBL guns, two 0.22 pistols, two improvised projectile launchers, grenades, ammunition and other warlike stores.

On November 10, a joint team of Assam Rifles, Manipur police and BSF launched operation to recover arms and ammunition in general area Utangpokpi in Kakching district and recovered one 0.22.Rifle, ammunition and other war-like stores, the release informed, adding, the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur police.
