ANSAM commends Guru Reuben

The All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) extended its heartiest congratulations to Guru Reuben Mashangva for receiving Padma Shri Award for Art.
Guru Reuben Mahsangva is a renowned folk artist and musicologist with his contributions mainly in the field of music, conservation of environment and other humanitarian causes through his hard work.
ANSAM, while congratulating the recipient of the Padma Shri Award, also encouraged every youth of Naga to attain such achievements in different fields in view of their talents.
Mention may be made that Guru Reuben Mashangva was born and brought up in Choithar village of Ukhrul district and has come a long way through sheer hard work and entirely self-taught in the field.
He is also known as the "Father of Naga Folk Blues" and was awarded with the prestigious Award for his distinguished service in the field of art and culture by Ram Nath Kovind.
Guru Reuben Mashangva was also reportedly honoured with Manipur State Kala Akademi in 2005 award for his commendable contribution towards Tribal Culture.
He was also acknowledged with a certificate for training "Shishyas" of Tangkhul Naga Folk Song, 2004-2006 under the Guru Shishya Parampara of ministry of Culture, North East Excellence award 2009 by Indian Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his innate musical mastery and knowledge of Naga Folk Music and National Tribal Award by the ministry of Tribal Affairs for his contribution in the field of Tribal Art & Culture, 2011-12 .
