Kakching schools host awareness prog on NMBA

Kakching, February 12 2025: Kakching district administration, in partnership with the District Social Welfare Office, organised an awareness programme as a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Action Plan on Wednesday at Kakching Khunou High School and Kakching Khunou Makha High School.

Nutan Nongthombam, who is Asian Youth Leader Colombo Plan, was resource person of the programme during which Kakching Khunou Makha High School headmaster Mayanglambam Imocha, Kakching Khunou High School headmistress Chingakham Landhoni Devi led the pledge at their respective schools to make Kakching a drug-free district.

The programme was aimed at educating the students about the ill effects of drug abuse and the importance of living a drug-free life.

It may be mentioned that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched on August 15, 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and is being implemented in 372 most vulnerable districts based on the findings of the first Comprehensive National Survey and inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau.

The aim of NMBA is to create awareness about ill effects of substance abuse among the youth, women, children with special focus on higher education institutes, university campuses, schobls and reaching out into the community and garnering community involvement and ownership of the Abhiyaan.
