Imphal, November 11 2024:
MitSna Foundation organised its first session of MitSna Interactive Talks (MIT) 2024 on the theme 'Career in Photography' at its Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai head office on Sunday.
According to a press release issued by PRO Moirangthem Erudite, the session was attended by wildlife photographer Sanasam Okendro Singh, who became the state's first photographer to capture on lenses the elusive Nongin (State Bird of Manipur) in Razai hills of Ukhrul district.
He shared his experiences with the participants, highlighting the importance of spreading awareness of wildlife conservation in remote areas of the state where hunting is often the primary source of food and income.
Touching on the theme of the session, Okendro said that photography is a lucrative career and exhorted the students in attendance to not only learn the theory of this field but also practice the acquired skills.
"If one is passionate and dedicated to their craft, success is evitable as long as they pursue it with sincerity," he asserted.
Expressing regret over the low number of women photographers in the state, he stated that women of Manipur are not less capable than women outside the state.
He then encouraged them to explore and pursue this field passionately, leaving behind all inhibitions.
He also briefly mentioned about his collaboration with the Manipur Forest Department and other departments for wildlife conservation including conducting censuses for animals and birds.
The session was organised in hybrid mode with attendees from across the globe.
