Legal awareness programme held at Kaibi

Senapati, December 10 2021:
A one day legal awareness programme was held on Friday at Community Hall of Kaibi Village in Senapati district.
The programme was organised by Aba Temai Development Society, Senapati under the sponsorship of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW).
MSCW chairperson incharge Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, members Lourembam Dayabati and T Chuongsing Koireng, Kaibi Village chairman Ashiho Adani and Kaibi Village women chairperson Daikho Sale attended as presidium members of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip informed that MSCW is solely for women to bring gender equality and uplift of women of the society.
The commission exist to help solve family problems and protect women from domestic harassment and violence, she added.
DLSA front office retainer lawyer S Marysena and advocate Athini Victoria were the resource persons.
Advocate Marysena, while deliberating on "crime against women", pointed out that eve teasing and impropriate touching in work place is a crime.
If anyone faces domestic violence, they may report to front office at Senapati to avail free legal service and to file a case besides giving free counselling.
Meanwhile, advocate Athini stated that legal awareness is important in rural areas and if anyone is molested one may lodge lodge complaint in any police station for the latter to initiate suitable action.
Lourembam Dayabati Devi highlighted about women legal rights and establishment of MSCW whereas T Chuongsing delivered the vote of thanks for the programme.
