Imphal, November 10 2024:
Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) secretary Sapam Samungou has stated that issues besieging Manipur will never be resolved if the people con tinue to blame one another.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club here Sunday, Samungou cau tioned that indulging in blame game will only compound and complicate existing problems, subsequently imperilling the future of Manipur and its people.
Further noting that state's CM is yet to be granted an appointment to meet the Prime Minister since the violence broke out some 18 months back, he said newly elected CM of Mizoram having met the PM thrice this year has the potential to send a strong message on how the centre has been interpreting the Manipur crisis.
He further questioned whether the battle of words between the different political parties, as if it is the 'Kurukshetra war' of the epic Mahabharata, would help end the conflict situation in Manipur.
PM Modi's inaction in taking any step against the Kuki terrorists and refusing to meet the CM and MLAs of Manipur testifies indifferent attitude of the centre toward suffering of the people of the state, he observed, while reminding all concerned that Manipur had been a sovereign nation from 33 AD till 1949 .
With regard to rise in the population compared to static food-grain production, Samungou stressed the need to ascertain whether the fault lies with Agriculture Department or allied departments or others.
