Bishnupur, September 08 2021:
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to give any response to the memorandum submitted by Bharatiya Kishan Sangh demanding to stop procuring crops through Mandis at Minimum Support Price but at fair remunerated price which is based on actual cost of production, Bharatiya Kishan Sangh, Bishnupur Jilla members staged a rally and submitted a reminder memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of the district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the rally, Sangh's state president Nameirakpam Indabushan informed that the rally was organised to submit another memorandum to the PM through the DC for reminding about their demands as the PM is yet to give any response to the previous missive.
"Today the memorandum is submitted to DCs of five valley districts of Manipur including Bishnupur.
The crops harvested laboriously by the farmers are still left unsold in granaries.
Moreover, the farmers are facing shortage of fertilisers amidst these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic," the state president said.
Demanding to give response to the memorandum submitted earliest, Indabushan cautioned that farmers will launch intense protest if the response is not received within ten days.
During the protest held at Bishnupur mini secretariat complex, the participants displayed placards inscribed with slogans like 'Government should procure paddy at reasonable rate from farmers', 'Save the lives of farmers', 'Frame policy on fertilisers' and 'Provide fertilisers to farmers adequately and timely', among others.
