Govt urged to help families in distress

Noting that some families who are taking shelter on government land for a long time are being told to evacuate the same by the government, Hangul Social Youth Action Committee (HASYACO), Hangul, Hayel Hangul GP ward members and the dispossessed families have jointly appealed to the government for making necessary arrangements for them.
Speaking to media persons at Hangul on Wednesday, HASYACO advisor Md Salaud din informed that Md Abdul Noor (55), Md Abhas Khan (24), Hangul Awang Leikai, Md Islamuddin (42), Md Nejamuddin (60), Md Muktaj Ahamad (30), Md Khomei (35), Md Salauddin (45), Md Safauddin (45), Md Amu alias Feroz Khan (27), Md Angou alias Mamei and Md Bahaouddin (28) from Hangul Mayai Leikai under Hayel Hangul GP, Wabagai AC have been taking shelter on the banks of Imphal River as they have no land plot due to extreme poverty.
However, the government has notified that it will carry out eviction if the people taking shelter on the river banks do not vacate within June 10.As such, those taking shelter in the area will become homeless, he said.
Informing that Md Abdul Noor has been bedridden due to multiple illnesses and Md Islamuddin is on oxygen support, Md Salauddin urged the government to extend every possible help to the destitute families.
While welcoming the initiative of the government to clear the river bank of encroachers, he appealed to the CM to show sympathy to the destitute families and make necessary arrangement for their alternative shelter.
The press conference was also attended by Hayel Hangul GP Up-PradhanMd Raffijuddin and ward number 7/8 member MV Saheerdur Rahaman, among others.
