Candle-lit Fortnight Day observed

Imphal, December 07 2024:
As a part of Global Fortnight Day observance held in connection with International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, the United NGO Mission Manipur district women committee Imphal West and Environment and Economic Development Association (EEMA) lighted candles at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, EEMA secretary Sinam Radhapyari said that Fortnight Day Observance is conducted across the globe protesting violence against women and child and further appealed to stop violence against women and Child.
While denouncing the re-imposition of AFSPA in areas of six police stations, she demanded withdrawal of AFSPA at the earliest and further urged for an immediate end to the conflict that broke out since May 3, 2023 .
At the event, participants held placards inscribed with 'Stop killing women and children', 'Save women and children', 'Stop genocide' and 'Save future generation' among others.
