IED, dummy bomb planted, sit-ins staged

Imphal, January 07 2022:
An improvised explosive device (IED) and a dummy bomb were found planted near Pangei Nepali Basti Moirangthem Leirak in Imphal East and at the office of Kangleicha Private Limited, Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai, Imphal west district respectively on Friday morning.
According to police reports, the IED planted near Pangei Nepali Basti under Heingang police station was detected on Friday around 9.15 am.
A team of state bomb disposal squad safely exploded it at Heingang Chingjin Mathak around 11.50 am.
Meanwhile, a dummy bomb planted at the office of Kangleicha Traders Private Limited was spotted by some passers-by around 4 am and immediately informed the police.
Later, a team of Imphal West district police retrieved the dummy bomb, it added.
Kangleicha Traders Private Limited managing director Laishram Rishikanta alias Bobo strongly denounced the bomb threat and urged all concerned not to repeat such act in the future.
On the other hand, womenfolk of Ushoipokpi, Waithou, Sangomshang and Tharaorok on Thursday staged sit-in protest denouncing the bomb blast near Lilong Sangomshang water reservoir that claimed the life of an AR soldier and left another injured.
The protestors raised slogans condemning bomb blast close to residential areas and demanding that no one should plot to disturb peace during the protest organised jointly by Sangomshang Suktukarong Development Association, Tharaorok Youth Club, Waithou and Shangomshang and Usoipokpi meira paibi.
Meanwhile, in denunciation of the bomb blast at the residence gate of Imphal West Up Adhyaksha located at Khonghampat Awang Leikai on January 5, Khonghampat Awang Leikai Meira Paibi staged a sit-in demonstration while Itam Nungoi Meira Paibi, Itam Nungoi Juvenile Club and Ima Thambal Lairembi Meira Paibi, Yourabung jointly staged sit-in protest to condemn the bomb threat at the residence of Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup general secretary Laishram Bobisana at Itam Nungoi Makha Leikai on Friday.
Protestors held placards inscribed with slogans like 'we condemn bomb threat in public places', 'Clarify the reason for planting the bomb', 'we want peace', etc.
Lamlai A/C intending candidate Sapamcha Kangleipal, in a press conference held at his residence, demanded the miscreant(s) who planted IED at the residence of Bobisana to apologise within 48 hours and cautioned of launching mass intense protest in case of failing to do so.
The notion of trying to subjugate the people who are fearless is immature and childish.
Planting bomb to threaten the people with an eye on winning election is not going to work on the people of Lamlai, he said.
People should also not be afraid of such threat, Kangleipal added.
