Senapati, September 06 2024:
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has demanded reinstatement of the SSC exam centre in Ukhrul district and approached the Regional Director (NER), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Manipur Governor in this regard.
In a representation submitted to the Regional Director (NER) SSC, ANSAM pointed out that SSC exams were smoothly conducted in Ukhrul district (Centre code: 14446) from 2018 till 2023 but the centre has been cancelled for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination, 2024 recently.
Conducting the said exam in Ukhrul truly served the public interest as it eased hardships faced by aspiring candidates.
However, the hasty move of SSC, NER office in cancelling the exam centre despite Ukhrul district not affected by the ongoing conflict has perturbed candidates of Ukhrul district and such discriminatory act hurts the sentiments of the candidates, the student body mentioned in the representation.
It also said that Naga areas particularly Ukhrul district is a peace zone as the Nagas are not party to the ongoing communal conflict in the state.
ANSAM urged SSC, NER office to reinstate the CGL exam centres in Ukhrul district in the interest of aspiring candidates and general population.
