Religious groups demand arrest of culprits

Several Meitei religious organsations have demanded on Wednesday to identify and book all culprits involved in Pallel Laithok Ching shooting incident by 5 pm of Thursday.
Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL), HERICON and several other religious bodies organized a press meet at the office of UKAL in Pureiromba Khongnangkhong in Imphal West.
UKAL convener Mutum Maniton described Tuesday's Laithok Ching incident as a "direct challenge to the Meitei community's faith and its tradition."The Laithok Ching shooting left one dead and four others injured.
"The State Government must identify and book all culprits involved in the incident by 5 pm of Aprils 7 .
Those miscreants involved in the shooting incident must be punished," he demanded.
Maniton declared that all religious organizations with the support of the people are now prepared to launch agitation against the brutal attack.
The UKAL leader appealed to all people now celebrating Lai Haraoba festival in all parts of Manipur to observe a 10-minute silence as a mark of respect to
late Gopal.
He announced that the Laithok Ching incident will be observed every year as a day which challenged the tradition of the Meiteis.
