Illicit liquor racket busted, 3 arrested

Imphal, November 05 2024:
In a series of raids carried out on Monday, Churachandpur district police busted an illegal liquor brewing setup, seized substantial quantities of liquor, and arrested three individuals involved in the illicit operations.
The first raid took place around 12:15 pm at K Vangphai village, leading to the arrest of Douzangam Khongsai (40), son of Lhunsei Khongsai of Hengjol village, Kangpokpi district, currently residing in Aijalon village, Churachandpur; and Ginminlen Haokip (31), son of Hangkam Haokip of Siden village.
Both were apprehended along with a white Tata Yodha Pickup truck (AS01NC 3351) suspected to be used in their operation.
In a follow-up raid at LFC Inn, Damkam Bazar, police arrested one Jacob Mangsuanthang Phiamphu (36), son of Zamkap Phiamphu of Vengnuam South, Jordan, Churachandpur.
Phiamphu was found in possession of liquor and various brewing accessories.
The items seized during the operation included 74 cans of beer, 14 bottles of beer, 130 litres of DIC liquor, a Brite plastic container, 11 aluminium pots, two plastic buckets, and five jerry cans.
All the seized liquor and brewing equipment were subsequently destroyed at the Churachandpur police station premises.
The arrested individuals are in the custody of Churachandpur police station^ pending further legal action.
