Oinam MLA seeks deployment of state force

Imphal, March 05 2024: Oinam MLA E Nalini drew attention of the government that deployment of state forces in addition to central forces currently stationed may assist return of the displaced villagers of Leimaram Ward No 6 (Waroiching) to their respective homes.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour on the last day of the 5th Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, MLA Nalini said a total of 84 families of Waroiching fled their homes due to the violence erupted on May 3, 2023.However, there has been no violence or gun-fight in the area till date.

The displaced families took shelter at their relatives for some time and then shifted to the relief camp opened at Leimaram high school.

CRPF is currently deployed in Leimaram area but villagers are eager to return to their respective homes if adequate state force is deployed in addition to the central force, Nalini said and urged the government deploy state force at Leimaram.
