Energy Conservation Building Code for Manipur drafted

Stating that the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) of Manipur has been drafted and approval of the same from the state government sought very soon, MSPDCL managing director H Shantikumar has said that all efforts are on to implement the building code in the state at the earliest.
The MSPDCL managing director was speaking as chief guest during the inaugural function of the two-day training programme on "Energy Efficiency Building Code (ECBC) and Eco Niwas Samhita (ENS) Rules and Compliance Procedure Using EMIS-BEP Tool" organised by State Designated Agency (SDA), Manipur MSPDCL at Siroy Hall of Hotel Imphal here on Tuesday.
H Shantikumar further informed that the ECBC has been developed by the government of India to conserve energy and reduce the amount of power utilisation by putting ventilation for sufficient light to come inside the room, while constructing houses.
In the state too, MSPDCL has been taking up various energy conservation activities as a designated agency of the state under the Viro Energy Efficiency.
He further stated that in order to improve the energy efficiency in the new commercial buildings, the ECBC was created as the first step towards promoting energy efficiency in the commercial building sector in India.
A number of states have started drafting the ECBC.
In Manipur too, the ECBC has been drafted jointly by PWD, PDA, MAHUD and municipality in tune with the ECBC implemented in India.
The state government's approval will be sought and adopted very soon, he added.
The inaugural function was presided over by MSPDCL executive director (Tech) M Rabi who is also the SDA nodal officer.
