CoTU observes 8th Remembrance Day

Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills observed the 8th Remembrance Day at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Phaijang village, Kangpokpi district on Wednesday afternoon.
The observance attended by CoTU executives and all department leaders was marked by candlelight vigil held at the grave of a recently deceased individual, a victim of the violence which broke out on May 3 and motivational speeches delivered by CoTU leaders.
Led by CoTU chairman Thanglen Kipgen and general secretary Lamminlun Singsit, CoTU Medical department convenor Helen, Defence Department's Thangminlen Kipgen, and Media Cell's Thangtinlen Haokip, also paid tribute to the deceased, in the presence of the family members of the deceased and CoTU Women wing and Relief Committee.
During his address, CoTU chairman Thanglen Kipgen emphasised the need to honour the sacrifices made by those affected by the conflict.
He encouraged CoTU and its department leaders to unite and work effectively, sending a message of resilience to the community.
CoTU general secretary Lamminlun- Singsit expressed concern over the prolonged conflict and the lack of government response.
He highlighted the need for a peaceful resolution and emphasised on communication with counterparts in Churachandpur, specifically ITLF, to monitor the situation closely and respond appropriately.
The conflict in Manipur which erupted on May 3 last completed its eighth month on Wednesday with no sign of cessation of the violence.
