MLA Ranjit distributes urea at subsidised rate

Keeping in view of the inconveniences and hardships faced by farmers in getting their share of urea due to Covid-19 pandemic and other reasons, Sugnu MLA Kangujam Ranjit has started distribution of urea at the rate fixed by the government to farmers of his constituency.
Development committees and their units operating in different localities of the AC and local Covid task forces under the aegis of the MLA distributed the urea at doorsteps of the farmers on Sunday.
According to MLA Ranjit, he took up the initiative of helping the farmers to mitigate some of the hardships they facing hardships due to scanty rainfall and Covid-19 pandemic.
They are required to travel 30 km to get their share of urea from the district agriculture office.
As most of the farmers are from poor families and do not have their own vehicles, they are in no position to afford charge for hiring a vehicle to get just one bag of urea since there is no public passenger service due to total curfew imposed by the government, he said.
