Imphal, August 30 2021:
While lauding the statement of government which highlighted prepara tions for combating Covid-19 third wave, CPI Manipur State Council has stressed the need for developing the healthcare infrastructure to prevent devastating impact of the third wave of Covid-19, which health experts predict would be even more virulent.
In a release, CPI MSC said that the statement of the government with regard to preparations being made for combating the third wave has been seen through media.
For this the party lauds the government.
However, people are still suspicious whether the exponential positivity and fatality rate during the second wave since May is because of government's mismanagement.
People still find it hard to believe the assurance of the government that it is fully committed to combating the pandemic as there out why Manipur has higher fatality rate when compared to other parts of North East and India, it opined.
Pointing out that the gathering of people in violating of SOP guidelines by MLAs and intending candidates for the upcoming state assembly election has the potential to trigger the third wave sooner than expected, CPI stressed that people are already aware of the massive increase of Covid-19 positivity and fa tality rate during the election in five states.
The government should set up adequate hospitals and equipment for treating the patients, the release urged.
"A Covid patient who is in critical condition needs to spend more than Rs 30,000 .
There are many people who could not afford such an amount.
Thus, the government should also look into the matter with all seriousness," the CPI stressed.
