Kakching, December 29 2021:
Students of Lamlong KhuUen High School on Wednesday staged protest, demanding the government to post adequate number of teachers for the only government school in the village which falls under Machi Block of Tengnoupal district.
Speaking in this regard, Lamlong KhuUen School SMC convenor and vUlage chairman DK Modest informed that 137 students are admitted to Lamlong KhuUen High School.
According to MGEL, there are 11 teachers for the school.
However, seven of them returned to their original schools on completion of the utilisation while out of the remaining four teachers, one has been transferred.
The school could not function with only three teachers, he said and lamented that failure to appoint headmaster and non-teaching staff has affected the functioning of the school.
DK Modest further demanded requisition of the utilised teachers of the school and posting another teacher in replacement of the transferred one or to revoke the transfer order.
He also demanded appointment of headmaster and non-teaching staff of the school.
While stating that the state government poUcies and programmes including Go to Hill, Go to Village, School Fagathanshi Mission are brilliant to hear, DK Modest maintained that the government seems to be against its own School Fagathanshi Mission as it is utilising and transferring teachers thereby causing dearth of teachers in the only government school of Lamlong Khullen.
He reiterated the demand for sending adequate teachers to the school and cautioned of launching intense protest after Christmas and New Year celebration, in case of failing to do so.
