Imphal, October 27 2014: An NGO in the name of North Eastern Economical Development Society with the objectives of controlling prices of essential commodities was launched at Manipur Press Club here today.

Manipur film actress Sonia formally inaugurated the NGO.

The Regional Manager of the newly opened NGO Sanjeev R.Singh told the gathering that anyone from north eastern states who wishes to be a member of the NGO has to pay a sum of Rs.999 as membership fee.

The membership fee is only Rs.499 for people from other Indian states, he added.

All members will be issued customer cards, which may be used in treatments in hospitals, lodging in hotels, and availing other discounts in purchases.

MEELAL President, Tomba Mangang also attended the opening function.
