Ukhrul rolls out red carpet for two champs

Ukhrul, July 25 2022: Ukhrul rolled out the red carpet for Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo with the Body Builders Association of Ukhrul district (BBAUD) felicitating the two champs for their stupendous showing at the 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2022 held from July 15-21, 2022 at Maldives.

Solimla Jajo won a silver medal in the Junior Model Physique under-165 cm category while Solan Jajo secured the fourth position in the under-160 cm category.

The felicitation programme held at Town Hall, Ukhrul was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar; SDO Ukhrul, Maibam Suranjoy; TNWL chairman, Dearson Chamroy; representatives of TKS, TMNL; students and family members.

Speaking at the occasion, Krishna Kumar congratulated the duo for their achievement and for bringing laurels to the Nation and the Tangkhul community in particular.

He mentioned that it was a proud moment for all and their achievement will motivate more youngsters in the future.

The DC also assured to extend all possible assistance in grooming more athletes.

Ningsem Kashak, joint secretary BBAUD, informed that Ukhrul Body Builders Association was formed in 2014 and under chief coach Robert Laishangthem Meetei it has produced many athletes who have competed at the State, National and International level.

It may be mentioned that Solan Jajo of Leishi village and Solimla Jajo of Kasom Khullen village have also qualified for the 13th WBPF World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship to be held at Thailand in December.

TNL vice president, Tuisem Kamkara and TSL president, Thingreiphy Lungharwo also congratulated the two athletes and wished them success in their future.

Robert Laishangthem Meetei who is a master trainer of Solimla and Solan presented a gym bag containing food supplements to encourage the two athletes.

Zumba Dance and Body Show from Royal Gymnasium Athletes, Ukhrul enthralled the crowd during the event.
