BoSEM staffers advised to end stir

Citing urgent need for printing, distribution, sale of textbooks and the ensuing matriculation examination, the government has advised employees of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM) to call off the on-going cease work strike in the interest of the students.
As per a release issued by Education-S joint secretary on Tuesday, the state government is open to conducting an enquiry on any wrong doing by anyone in BoSEM including the chairman on provision of proof/evidence and shall take action as prescribed under rules.
Noting that some of the BoSEM employees are on pen-down strike protesting against the appointment of Akham Joykumar Singh as the BOSEM chairman, the release reminded that A Jovkumar was appointed by the government vide order no.EDU-S-l/16/2024-EDN(S)-EDN(S) dated December 6, 2024 after calling eligible applicants through a notification No.39/4/2014-SE(S)/BoSEM dated October 24, 2024 .
The relative merit, qualifications, experience, etc., of the five applicants were considered.
No exam or interview is required as per the relevant rules.
Further, the maximum age for appointment as chairman on deputation is till the age of 65 years or up to the date of retirement whichever is earlier, vide notification no.DAB-l/8/2022-EDN(S)-EDN(S) dated March 1, 2023 issued as approved by the state cabinet, it pointed out.
