While asserting that Charoipangdongba is an old village belonging to Kabui community, Charoipangdongba Kabui Khul Thoubei chairman Gonthanga Gonthangmei has appealed to Gainaichung Malangmei, who had been expelled for violation of age old norms from the village, not to disturb peace and tranquillity in the village.
In a video message from Thoubei of the village made available to media houses on Thursday, chairman Gonthanga Gonthangmei said that Charoipangdongba village has no connection whatsoever with death of Gainaichung Malangmei's grandson Guangsinrei Malangmei, who was found dead along NH-37 road near a small vehicle in the vicinity of the village on March 20 evening.
Post mortem report revealed that Guangsinrei Malangmei died due to head injury in an accident.
However, members of Tupul JAC formed in connection with Guangsinrei Malangmei's death under the aegis of Gainaichung Malangmei violated CrPC 144 imposed in Charoipangdongba village by the government and torched five houses and five vehicles of the village.
The incident was very unfortunate and a case has been registered against Tupul JAC in connection with the arson incident.
However, no member of the JAC has been arrested till date, Gonthanga said and urged government to book all the culprits involved in the crime and punish them as per law of the land.
The chairman also appealed to government to provide adequate compensation to villagers whose houses and vehicles were reduced to ashes.
